AMS updated their policies and procedures to be HIPAA compliant. The Office of Civil Rights implements the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act(HIPAA). Under the act the Office for Civil Rights has responsibility for implementing and enforcing the Privacy Rule with respect to voluntary compliance activities and civil money penalties. AMS moved from servicing the Midwest to Nationwide. The number of company employees doubled.

We moved into a newly remodeled Company Headquarters. The facility is outfitted with a new security system and extensive key card control access. As part of our updated Disaster Recovery Plan, the building is equipped with a large backup electrical generator and backup battery UPS which eliminates any electrical interruption to our business.
HITECH Laws heighten monetary penalties for violation of HIPAA rule, Protected Health Information (PHI) to be destroyed. AMS had already put in place policies and procedures that accommodated this new law.
AMS completed installation of bar code driven inventory control software. Software is used for our destruction division.

AMS partnered with Technic, Inc., a large privately owned worldwide refinery. Technic Inc, purchased the Kodak refinery and formed Rochester Silverworks, LLC. Technic, Inc. is one of the largest suppliers of engineered silver powders to the electronics and photovoltaic (solar cell) industry.
